Getting connected

1. Install the same extension version configured for the same room service as your friends.
2. Use the full invite link, including its ending after #key=. If it no longer works, ask the host for a new invite or to unlock the room.
3. Open lkjparty from the browser toolbar. Start a party on the current tab, or join with a link and open/connect the shared page. Choose all-site access for automatic website changes, or allow sites individually. Only the selected shared tab is synchronized.
4. Close the panel when you do not need it; synchronization continues. Let ads finish normally. If autoplay is blocked, press the site's own play button once. Website changes follow automatically when access is allowed. Scroll sharing is off by default. Review permissions in More.

Let everyone control

The host can turn on Dashboard → Party controls → Everyone can control. Participants can change playback and the selected page, plus enabled scroll, pointer and integrated app state. Room ownership, invitation management and this setting stay with the host. Each participant needs 0.4.0 or newer; an older client joining restores host-only control. Turn the setting off to return to host control while keeping the latest shared state.

Current limitations

The engine targets ordinary HTTP/HTTPS pages, accessible HTML video/audio, scroll containers and opt-in application integrations. It does not understand every application's internal state. Maps, editors, games and canvas applications may need an integration using the TypeScript SDK. Cross-origin frames, closed shadow roots, DRM/service restrictions, live/infinite timelines and different layouts may prevent accurate synchronization. Local browser fixtures do not establish compatibility with real providers or DRM. Recognized ads pause sync; unknown ad layouts may need site-specific work.

The Firefox development ZIP is unsigned and requires temporary installation; use Firefox Add-ons for regular installation. Safari-source packages are conversion input, not an installable or signed Safari release. Packaging alone does not establish browser runtime compatibility.

Rooms expire after 6 hours and reset when the server restarts. Leaving does not erase messages already shared with the room. See the privacy policy for retention details.

Report an issue or ask a privacy question

Install lkjparty from the Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons, or Microsoft Edge Add-ons. Store updates are separate from GitHub releases. Report reproducible issues through GitHub Issues, or the channel that supplied your development package.

Include your browser and extension versions, the displayed status message, steps to reproduce, and the affected site and enabled synchronization options. Do not include invite links, resume credentials, cookies, service passwords, personal profiles, captured media, or private chat. Redact names and private information from screenshots.

Support messages sent through the Chrome Web Store go to Google under Google’s privacy policy.
